Campaign Platform

James' campaign platform focuses on the following key areas that are of importance to 46th Ward residents:

Making the Ward Safe for Residents

As a resident of the 46th Ward, you should be able to feel safe in your home and in your neighborhood. Your alderman should respond to your concerns on all public safety issues.

While Alderman Shiller has proclaimed that the 23rd Police District is the "safest district in the city", she neglects to mention that more than two-thirds of this district falls outside of the 46th Ward.

The portion of the district that falls within the 46th Ward remains an area of high crime, high enough, in fact, that a police camera was installed in Sheridan Park in mid-2006.

Making the Ward Work for You

It’s your right to be kept informed about decisions affecting your neighborhood. Right now, you may only hear about decisions well after they’ve been made – even in an age of instant communication.

You also deserve to have quick access to the people and offices in the City of Chicago whose purpose is to respond to issues affecting us all.

Informed, Intelligent Urban Planning & Development

Everyone in Uptown – homeowners, renters, business owners – deserves the benefit of informed, forward-thinking decisions about how to develop and improve our neighborhoods; support our existing businesses; and draw strong new and commercial development to the Ward areas.
