Viewers were stunned as the incumbent attempted to silence Ms. Brackett and then lowered the height of the Wilson Yard housing another three stories. James presented his campaign with style and panache, giving us a preview of our new leadership in the ward.
Saturday, February 17 - Pump Up the Volume with James Cappleman @ Nick's UptownA UNC Event A horde of supporters came out on this freezing night and danced their chills away. This hot end-of-campaign event was a huge success! A great time was had by all!
January 31 - Aldermanic DebateJames and the incumbant debated the issues facing the 46th Ward in front of a literal Standing Room Only crowd at the Disney School. James was the clear victor in the event. With great calm and poise, James demonstrated a detailed understanding of the Ward's issues and presented a clearly defined vision for our future. Following the event, supporters celebrated his successful showing with pizza and drinks at Nick's on Wilson.
Friday, January 26, 2007 - Jamming for James @ Nick's UptownCappleman supporters let their hair down at Nick's Uptown at "Jammin' for James," a fun, music-filled party. It was a great way to end a busy week and a positive kick-off for the last 4 very busy weeks of campaigning!
Thursday, January 18 - Block Club MixerJames joined Magnolia-Malden Neighbors, Graceland-Wilson Neighbors, Truman Square Neighbors, and Lakeside Neighbors block clubs for a gathering where he talked with members of each organization about their concerns.
January 2 to today - A CTA Stop Near YouAs January begins, James continues meeting more Ward residents along the lakefront and L platforms, as well as visiting voter registration sites to chat with new 46th Ward voters.
December 29 - Crew Bar and Grill FundraiserCappletini's are sweeping the nation after the successful mixer at Crew.
December 26 - City HallOn this final day for challenging ballot petitions, no challenges were filed against any of the signatures gathered. While we were 100% confident in the quality of our signatures, we were please not to have to contend with this time-consuming and expensive event.
December 7 to December 23 - A CTA Stop Near YouJames shivers with Ward residents at the lakefront bus stops and L platforms.
December 11 - City HallJames files his ballot petitions at the Chicago Board of Elections as the office opens. Over 800 signatures were gathered, over 300% more than required to get on the ballot. As the only candidate for the 46th Ward to turn in petitions that day, James secures his position as first on the ballot.
December 10 - Wine and Art ShowNearly 100 people attended a wine and art show fundraiser at Uptown Recording, 4656 North Clifton, where attendees gathered to sip wines and view and purchase art and jewelry created by local artists.Keeping the mood festive, Thomas Pace, Chris Tuazon and Alan Bailey took turns performing in Studio West. In Studio East, Uptown resident and wine expert Renee Cassidy served up wines from France, Chile and Spain. In another room, Uptown's own Erik Sosa was busy putting the finishing touches on a canvas that now hangs in Uptown Recording's lounge and is for sale. The highlight of the night was the last few moments of the silent auction of four photographs by James Cappleman. A friendly bidding war ensued and, in the end, four lucky people went home with gorgeous works of art and the knowledge that they contributed to the success of James' campaign.
December 2 - Holiday Progressive DinnersTwo Seatings of a Holiday Progressive Dinner were held at three of the homes of members of Buena Park Neighbors who live on historic Kenmore Avenue. The homes were decorated to the nines and a sumptuous feast was prepared by the hosts and their staff of volunteers. A wonderful time was had by all who attended.There were 2 seatings, at 6pm and at 8pm, both attended by the future alderman, James Cappleman and his partner Richard Thale. The wine and food were graciously donated by Cappleman supporters.
November 29 - GlamaDramaA fabulously fun evening of fashion, music and MUCH more was held at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted to benefit Citizens for Cappleman's 46th Ward Aldermanic Campaign.The event, co-chaired by Robert Davis & Susan Jendrezak, was an unforgettable evening for those in attendance. Witty, wise cracking "Aqua Neta" hosted this unforgettable evening of style and sound. Chicago favorites, Amy & Freddie performed. The live fashion show highlighted some of Chicago's hottest apparel and jewelry designers such as Evil Kitty, Kayce Girl Originals, and Ulia. Chris McCray, winner, "Black Theater Alliance Best Choreographer 2006", choreographed the show.
November 15 - Unique So ChiqueJames meets with area condo board Presidents to hear their concerns regarding the neighborhood.
November 8 - U-Haul Task ForceJames meets with community group, U-Haul Managers and Chicago Community Policing to address public safety issues on North Broadway.

October 9 - Area Block ClubsJames stopped by a joint social gathering of the Magnolia-Malden Neighbors and Graceland-Wilson Block Clubs, held at Nick's on Wilson.
September 25 - First FundraiserCitizens for Cappleman held its first fund-raiser on Monday, September 25th at Magnolia Cafe, at 1224 W. Wilson.
September 24 - The Campaign BeginsJames Cappleman announced his candidacy for Alderman of the 46th Ward on September 24th with a rally held across the street from the controversial Wilson Yard project, in front of about 100 supporters.
